Projects
Below is a representative sampling of projects successfully completed or currently in work by AES. |

 |
INL - Idaho National Laboratory
AES personnel have performed engineering studies, calculations, established design requirements followed by detailed design for radioactive materials, high pressure systems, high velocity systems, and highly corrosive and explosive material transfer and processing systems at the INL. AES uses ANSI/ASME NQA-1 design and construction requirements. |

Research Operations & Support Services (ROSS)
AES's role in the Jacobs/ROSS team involves providing engineering and technical services in all areas of the AFRL's operations. This includes responsibility for design, analysis, inspection, and configuration management of test facilities, components, subsystems, and systems for rocket propulsion. |

 |
Sierra Engineering
AES teamed with Sierra Engineering to design a conceptual rocket engine test facility diffuser/ejector apparatus. The rocket diffuser/ejector system consists of the rocket diffuser, a bellows section, a gate valve, an ejector for creating the initial vacuum, and an ejector diffuser. The design team provided detailed thermal/hydraulic analysis, CFD analysis & FEA analysis. |

JRETS
Applied Engineering Services, Inc. has supported the Jet & Rocket Engine Test Site, or JRETS, currently in development at San Bernardino International Airport which was formerly Norton Air Force Base, CA. AES has developed process diagrams, designed high pressure liquid and gaseous piping systems and vessels, and selected control and instrumentation for JRETS. |

Arc Jet
Arnold Engineering Development Center, Arnold AFB, TN
AES, Inc. worked with Exquadrum, Inc. on Low-Cost Fabrication Methods for Arc Jet Heater Segments. The work demonstrates the feasibility of using a Friction Stir Welding (FSW) method in place of Electron Beam Welding which is currently used to fabricate heater segments. FSW involves the joining of metals without fusion of filler materials and results in strong and ductile joints. |
