AEROSPACE TEST STANDS AND FACILITIES

Applied Engineering Services, Inc. designs ground-based rocket engine and component test stands for both liquid and solid fuel rockets. Designs include structural steel and custom hardware mounting systems, integration of Thrust Measurement Systems, design of liquid fuel and oxidizer run vessels, design of gaseous pressurant piping and other required systems. AES has designed horizontal, vertical, gimballing, and angled test stands. Smallest designs include bench scale hardware for testing several hundred pounds of thrust up to full scale 1.2M lbf of thrust test stands.

NUCLEAR SYSTEMS AND FACILITIES

Applied Engineering Services, Inc. designs, analyzes and engineers equipment, systems and components for use in nuclear and radiological environments. Examples include analyses of gloveboxes, shield walls, and other structural components per DOE STD-1020. Design of specialized ventilation systems for containment and control of nuclear materials in accordance with the Nuclear Air Cleaning Handbook DOE-HDBK-1169-2003. Casks and other specialty equipment for radioactive waste materials have been designed and used for the safe handling, containment, transport and disposal of low level, mixed and high-level wastes.

PROCESS SYSTEMS

Applied Engineering Services, Inc. designs complex process systems for a variety of industries including rocket engine testing, nuclear facilities, plant systems such as water, steam and hydraulics and other chemical treatment and process systems. Perform sizing calculations to determine fluid conditions for process systems including flow, pressure and temperature. Prepare Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for process systems to describe process conditions schematically. Select components such as control valves, remote operated valves, hand and check valves, pressure relief devices, orifice plates, pressure regulators, backflow preventers, filters, flow meters, gages, transducers and other process hardware for complete, safe and functional systems.

COMMERCIAL FACILITIES

Applied Engineering Services, Inc. provides select structural, electrical and mechanical support for custom commercial facilities and buildings. Support includes civil and site work, foundation design, structural steel and access platform design, design and engineering of low to medium voltage power distribution systems and design of HVAC systems. Other technical support includes design of lighting, lightning protection, plumbing and drain systems.

Precise Technical Measuring and Modeling Services

AES offers the capability to perform metrology operations to obtain precise measurement of parts, systems, facilities, and perform machine alignment using state of the art laser tracking and scanning equipment.

We also offer Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) scanning of structures, buildings, equipment and other features to provide rapid and highly accurate 3D modeling of scanned items.
